So yea, strings and intonation?
So yea im still experimenting with
string gauges
since im trying to find out what gauge i should use to remove the buzz on my EAD strings. im now using 9-50 dimebag signature DR's and they sound great. but the intonation is off. so does that mean i have to get my jem intonated again? it was fine with the 9-46(i think so but it was a while ago). but i got a lot of buzz on the EA and D strings.
any knowledge?

Re: So yea, strings and intonation?
Buzz doesn't have anything to do with intonation.
What are you tuned to?
Changing string gauges, and tuning the same can result in intonation problems. If you're using heavier strings on the bottom, and getting buzz on the bottom, you may need to raise your action on the
lower strings
.

If raising strings doesn't work, check the
neck relief
(probably a tiny adjustement, if any).

Yeah String Buzz has nothing to do with what gauge or strings you use, give your guitar a good setup and say goodbye to your string buzz.

Re: So yea, strings and intonation?
Actually, the lighter the strings, the more potential for string buzz, as they aren't as tight and have a bit more "flop" to them. But yeah, as long as you have your guitar set up correctly, then there shouldn't be much buzz.

Re: So yea, strings and intonation?
Hi guys,
I just have a new RG1570 guitar...haven't replaced the strings yet and I want to change the strings with the same string set and gauge. Do you know the stock/default string gauge/ set Ibanez use for this model? I want to use the same gauge so I won't adjust the action, and trem profile. thanks in advance for those who will reply!

Stock set on Ibanez guitars is D'Addario EXL120 009-042.
