Speedloader action!

I want to lower the action on my guitar. Should I just go as low as I can on both sides until I start getting fret bzz or will going too low dramatically limit my divebomb range or mess with other aspects? I was going to start lowering away but figured I needed to get some jemsite advice first Thanks everyone and keep jammin',

Re: Speedloader action!

Lower action makes for great tapping and easier fret work. Not sure about dive bombs since I dont do them.

Go as low as you can without getting buzz on all frets and by bending the strings all the way up the neck and check they dont buzz or choke when you bend them.

Re: Speedloader action!

Well the rocker screw on the low e side is stripped so I could only lower the other side. However, when I lowered the other side I noticed that the rocker screw started binding with the base plate when raising the pitch with the whammy I like to be able to raise the low e to an a with the whammy so I just put the action as low as I could on that side while avoiding the binding. Too bad I never touched the rocker screws until now and the low e screw simply came stripped :...(

Dont forget that sometimes, raising the action a little can give you a little more tone and sustain, too low and you choke the strings and loose tone and volume. I found this out.

Re: Speedloader action!

Those bridge studs are in the Ibanez catalog so don't be afraid to ask an Ibanez dealer to order a set. They old ones likely have the tiny allen lock screw that lives down inside the stud. Many players forget(or never know about them) and try to adjust the bridge hieght without first unlocking those little buggers. 9 out of 10 times, they strip or break off the top of the stud.
