Question

Stainless Steel Frets?

I have a neck on the way from Warmoth and opted for the stainless steel fret option. Everyones favorite exccentric ranter (Ed Roman) was preaching about the evils of Stainless Steel frets. Opinions?

Re: Stainless Steel Frets?

If it as bad as Mr. roman says it is, why are there so many still being made? Maybe he doesn't know how to make a guitar.

Re: Stainless Steel Frets?

I have a Parker FLy Classic with SS frets and I don't notice any diff., other than that they aren't worn one tiny bit, even though the guitar is somewhere between 3-5 years old.

Re: Stainless Steel Frets?

He's probably bitching cause it's harder to do a fretjob with Stainless frets, as the material's harder, and it wears the fretting tools faster. I take what that guy says with a grain of salt.

Re: Stainless Steel Frets?

It's fkking Ed fkkng Roman, why bother paying any attention to what he says.
He complains just to complain, nothing is good enough for him and he knows how to do everything better. That's why vintage Ed Roman guitars can sell for $300,000 and the market for new Ed Roman guitars is always strong.
F that Grimace looking MF. I wish someone would hide his twinkies from him so he spends more time looking for them and less time posting about why Gibson/Fender/Ibanez/PRS etc are garbage

I would bet in his case it's his melted butter pressure. Those veins haven't seen blood since Carter was in office.

From what I remember the Warmoth site said that the fret jobs were not any more difficult than the standard frets. But I could be wrong.

Re: Stainless Steel Frets?

I have them on my Carvin 727, and on my Fly Deluxe. I just got the Fly, but it plays fine. The Carvin is an insane player. I would definitely get them if they're an option, but I'd personally go for medium jumbos rather than jumbos.

Nobody forces me to watch kiddie porn either, but I would speak out against it if someone mentioned it on the forum.
