'Starry Night' RG770 project is complete! - Lookin' pretty s

Hi all. *I finally finished my RG770SN (SN for van Gogh's Starry Night). *I used a print for the face of the guitar . . . got the idea from the Picasso JPMs.

I put in some new pups too . . . PAF Pro, Fast Track 2 and Tone Zone  *What do you think?

Thanks. *I used a print and glued it to the guitar with spray adhesive. *My work went a little something like this:

1.) took the entire guitar apart
2.) sanded guitar down to the wood
3.) primed it w/ oil based spray primer
4.) spray painted the body dark blue
5.) glued the print to the face and headstock
6.) clearcoated
7.) put it back together

Im very Impressed,

love your choice of print it really suits the design and shape of the guitar, its difficult to find prints that use the available space well.

The print didn't give you any trouble when clear coating? *I would have imagined that it would have absorbed the clear coat. *What kind of clear did you use?

Very cool looking. *Congrats!

I sprayed it with 3 thin coats aerosol polyurethane so I could get the surface of the print to tack up a bit. *This seemed to give the print enough protection to move on to final coating. *

The print was rather thick and glossy, so it may have been okay anyway . . . who knows *:idunno:

Thanks for the compliments all *

Please enlighten as to how you turned the Ibanez logo yellow. I want to change the color of my logo to black and another to red. Can I find someone to print the logo for me to clearcoat over or what? thanks

Thanks gang * In regards to the logo, I actually went about that in an unusual way. *I've seen threads here on Jemsite that discuss printing the logo on decal paper for laser jet printers (i.e. get a graphic of the logo and have it printed on a color laser jet at Kinko's or something).

I scanned the logo off the headstock before I sanded the headstock down. *I knew if I printed the logo on decal paper, the edges of the decal would likely show through the clearcoat (unless I spent a lot of time trimming the logo perfectly to the letters).

Since I was putting part of the print on the headstock as well, I decided to scan that as well. *I used Adobe Photoshop to lay the logo over the print and made them one image. *I then printed this out on my home ink jet using photo quality and photo paper.

That's how I went about it  * If you're only interested in changing the logo's color, it's probably worth your time to search Jemsite for other threads on this topic.

Incredible job man!!!

What sort of print did you use (what sort of paper). Is it a poster or printed on a laser jet?

Cheers James

Very nice work. Do the edges of the print look OK? I ask because most print/fabric guitars have painted bursts around the guitar edges to hide the seam.

Rick

I've got say it -- I'd give my right ear for that guitar.
