Steel wool in the UK?

Do we actually have the same grading system as the Americans? I looked in B&Q and had no luck finding 0000. What are the Brits on here using?

Yes, the grading is the same, but you won't find 0000 in B&Q. You need to look in antiques shops, as it's used in French polishing.

Strangely enough I've just been looking for some. I sent off for a roll of 0000 grade from a website, but when I went into my local Homebase yesterday I found and bought a roll of 00000. I thought the grades only went as far as four-0.

Thanks Ftwizard.

I think it goes to grade 5, not totally sure though. I guess the graded stuff still could be used if I purchase the finest one on the shelf. I'm not a chancer though.

I have a large box of 0000 sitting right here. I bought it in a small hardware shop I think, but it is available in major DIY stores too.
