Stinging a TOM bridge like a wrap around

Oops.. I meant stRinging...

I was watching a Joe Bonamassa tour vid where he says he does wrap around re stringing on his Les Pauls. Basically, you are stringing through the inside of the stop tail piece and wrap over the top rather than going through the back like normal. Said guys like Billy Gibbons and Page did the same thing and helps for bending ( makes 10's feel like 9's) anyone do this or try it? I will try it on my Explorer next restring. I want to try a set of heavier strings anyway since I have bee using 9's since I was a kid

It lessens the break angle from the tailpiece to the bridge itself. A lot of players do it to help avoid breaking strings.

I've done it before, does feel a tiny bit different and iirc it improved the sustain!

Yuu shouldn't have that great of an angle anyways, the TP should never be cranked all the way down. I have replaced over 200 LP bridges due to them collapsing due to ignorant owners.

Dude, I don't even play any guitars with TOM bridges. I'm saying this because I know thats why people do it.

My point is if you set up the guitar the way it was designed, there is no need.
