Strange JPM reaction - trem too high? pups too high?

The P3 I just got is starting to concern me....

I had a buzz at g string 1st fret. So I tweak the truss rod. Ok? No buzz there now.

Action seems high. So I lower the trem posts( set screws and all). High side goes as low as it will go. Still too high.

At this point I discover that if you loosen the set screw more, you can lower the posts more. Right?

So, I loosen the set screws as much as they go. Posts down as far as poss...

Hmmmm...still to high.
Dont get me wrong..the action is playable, improvable, but not that bad.....but surely it should go as far down as to have then rattle?????
Any ideas???

Another thing is that the pups wont go further down. They are not too high, but its strange it doesnt hide more. Is it cause they are direct mounted?

Thanks for your help

Does anybody :read: when I talk about neck shims and how no 'international' guitars seem to have them?

Rich is right.

Shim the neck, that's your best option.
Use a business card or a cutoff from a birthday card or similar.

But having said that, really, you shouldn't have to.
For the money you pay for a sig guitar you should be able to achieve simlar action as the sig player has himself without modding it (unless the player uses shim's himself that is)

I really could do with some more detail on this...

Not sure what the concept is...
Any links or threads that explain this?

Julio,
You IM'ed me about this but I messed up returning the IM somehow, I've tried sending you one but I don't think you're receiving them

When I get home I'll take a photo of my neck shim and how it's placed and will email it to you with a description of what to do.

Cheers

The action on my JPM is just below the frets and it's not modded. *I'd say press the string down on the first and 24th fret at the same time (much like an Alex Leifeild chord), see how much space there is under the 12th fret. *If there is a lot of space, you'll need to flatten the neck out. *Also.....words words words blah blah blah tech talk mumble mumble grumble.
