Strap-Lok Screws

I much prefer the look the the DiMarzio Strap-Lok Straps on the JEM more than anything else. But i got one problem. I noticed the screw that came with the strap has a different threading than the stock gold JEM screw. Also the DiMarzio screw is slightly smaller than the Ibanez screw, so i cant use the stock screws with the strap because it's too big for the hole of the strap. I screwed in the DiMarzio only once, and it did seem snug and tight, but i'm still a little concerned. And i am aware of that strap instructional on the jemsite tech section, but that's for stripped holes. My JEM's holes are not stripped at all. Can i just use the DiMarzio Screws on my JEM and not have to worry about it? Cause i would feel REALLY BAD if they end up just stripping the holes. Please help me out

I put a DiMarzio clip lock on my new 7VSBL last week.

Before using the original clip lock screws, I filled each screw hole with 3 slim toothpicks that I cut down to length and pre-coated them with a little bit of Elmer's Carpenter's wood glue. (the yellow stuff.) I let it dry for a couple hours and just scewed the ends on. They're holding just fine.

Do not use the smaller screws in the original holes without filling them first or you will have problems later.

I can testify to this... my Floral's end pin just pulled out last night, fortunately while I was taking the guitar off and so had it by the monkey grip. Oh well, it needed to go to the shop anyway to have the just-gone-microphonic bridge HB replaced...

Yes, I am an idiot sometimes .

This has been discussed many times before.

The easiest option is to just remove the brass ferrule that comes in the DiMarzio strap ends and put a small metal washer in it's place. That way, the original Ibanez screws can be used safely. It's worked for me for years.
