Hi,

i´ve adjust the action and neck relief and is playing really good.

only thing is that the b and e strings are buzzing when playing open (al aire).....i try to pass my dunlop shell XH pick between the string and the fret and it didnt fit...

Re: Strat setup

buzzing at the nut usually means the nut needs to be higher on those strings. relief won't change that much if at all because its the first fret causing the buzz. take it to a tech and have him install a new nut. you can improve the sound too if you use an upgraded material like bone or a graphite nut.

Re: Strat setup

Is your nut plastic or steel as in a LSR roller nut? If it is plastic then do what GB said and have a new better nut installed. If it is a LSR nut then just shim it with something.

It is possible if the guitar is not new to you that someone had a heavy gauge string set on it and had to file the nut to get them to set right. Now that you have 9's on it they set lower than they usually would.

Good luck.

Re: Strat setup

Adding neck relief should clean up open string buzz off the first fret, if it's not you need to find out why. The nut slots can be built up with super glue, but you'd want a nut file set to get them right after you did.

Re: Strat setup

How about trying two things?

1. raise the action on the saddles for the strings that are creating the problem

or

2. raise the action on the trem on the treble side.

I'm surprised no one's suggested those two things.

Re: Strat setup

Ahhh yes the good ol' saddle raising. That could work. Jimmy, you're a genius!

OR

You could always use a hammer. That would stop the buzzing. Just keep in mind it'll probably stop any other sound from the guitar as well. lol

How noticeable is the buzzing?

Re: Strat setup

i send the guitar to a tech to replace pu´s and he adjusted the trem flat to the top (i can only dive the bar...but thats ok for me)...he also put some little paper pieces to raise the 1 and 2 strings and it stops buzzing...not a definitive thing but is working.

i´m loving my strat again...
