string alignment

call me crazy, but i was wondering, what are the chances of a prestige rg guitar coming out ibanez with a slightly shifted neck? just looking at the front of my guitar (rg2550z) it aaaalmost looks as if the neck is not quite properly lined up, but i think it's my imagination. i mean, it's just me nitpicking.

it also feels like the high E is kind of too close to the edge of the neck and occasionally it slips off. note that when i put the bridge back on the guitar last, i didn't take into consideration that it could be slightly misaligned. there's a about a 0.5mm difference. the treble side is slightly closer to the body than the bass side on the studs. i really can't be bothered taking it off and changing it again.

i just assumed that the trem could only be aligned one way, the proper way and i assumed it would always have to sit in the position so that it's equal on bass and treble side.

also, the neck hasn't been taken off the guitar yet, only the truss rod has been adjusted.

That's why one of the knife edges is round instead of straight. A little trem use and it should find home.

Re: string alignment

Loosen up the neck screws alittle & shift the neck toward the high e string. Retighten the neck screws. That should correct the issue. If you have issues with the neck shifting back to it's original position, then you may need to have the neck shimmed.

Re: string alignment

i'm pretty sure the neck is on straight. i took off the nut and screwed it in again, got like 0.3mm of clearance lol.

Re: string alignment

took some photos in bathroom for good light. high E and low E looking down the neck from the bridge.

dunno how "normal" those spaces are. oh well, it isn't actually affecting the playability of the guitar (not that i can tell anyway) so i'm assuming it's my imagination. i doubt a guitar would come out of fujigen with a shifted neck. even with travel and temperature change.

bingo.

it's not about taking the nut off. you loosen all 4 screws where the neck meets the body, then pull the neck towards the high e string and hold it there while you tighten the screws.
