String change on EgdePro7... failed.

Hi!

Before you even ask, i know how to use google and i also have read all articles i could find. I was able to change strings and get my RG550 all tuned up using ibanezrules advice.

...but on my Universe with EgdePro it just wont work... i can tune first six strings just fine, but once 7th string comes in its all gone, with or without fine-tuning pegs. i now want to kill myself... can somebody give step by step instructions? I tried to go string by string as it is much easier, but i failed. New strings are exactly the same model and size, but my trem angle is changing also - blah!

Try tuning all the strings down and stretching all the strings thoroughly. If all else fails, http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/index.htm

They are fully starched. I changed 2 strings per day, fully stretching each and then let it stand still for a night, then stretch again and re tune.

Are your new strings the same gauge as the last set of strings? Sounds like they might not be.

And by 7th string do you mean high E or Low B? Because you should be stringing from B up.

Re: String change on EgdePro7... failed.

Hi. Strings are the same size, only first string is 09 instead of 10... all others are the same. By 7th i mean low B string. As advised, i stretched all strings again - i know that low B string is pain in the ass in terms of stretching, you just cant get it done in one day.

And the same **** again, i can easy get 1-6th strings in tune, but 7th is always too flat at the and so here we go again. I tried to tune it two steps higher, so that in the and difference would be smaller - and wasted 30 minutes of my time again. I guess i am just doing something wrong in general... at the other and, i had no probz with my rg550 six string. damn... i am starting to loose it.

Well of course the tremolo is going to move when you tune up the low string after all of them are in tune, I prefer to tune it all slowly up until it reaches the point where they are all around the correct notes and fine tune it until the tremolo is happy.

screw the trem springs in a quarter turn, tune, repeat until in tune and trem is level

Maybe he had the same problem I still haven't resolved, I can't tune to standard with my 7 yet with 3 springs because the trem is super high with the claw all the way in. I had to finally just tune down a halfstep until I can resolve it

I only see that as a solution if you don't use the trem ever or if you are lazy lol, I could never do that

Re: String change on EgdePro7... failed.

actually blocking -in the correct position- is a handy way of tuning it.

Now remove the block, adjust the spring claw until the trem is in the exact same position it was when blocked and you're back in tune.
