String retaining bar on headstock

The headstock string retaining bar (behind the nut) on my Jems seems to be set at different heights, is there a standard setting based on string height ?

If you want to minimise how sharp the strings are pulled when you lock the pressure pads - make sure that the retaining bar is set low enough to hold the string down all the way across the nut.
There's no point having it lower than that and having it higher would make the bar redundant.

if the truss-rod cover sits on the way and keeps the retainer-bar to be set low enough, pull it out.
