String Tree Benifits

I recently bought an Ibanez VBT700. As far as I can tell, it is of a fairly high quality for the low price apart from some finnish issues (paint drips and such).

I am used to playing my RGT42DXWH which has an edge 3 tremolo. I have become fairly accustomed to the way this guitar feels.

I have been playing it for a few days and the bottom 3 strings on the VBT700 feel looser to my picking hand despite the fact that both guitars have the same string brand and guage on them. (Ernie Ball hybrid .009 - .046)

The RGT42DX has the tremolo, a string tree, and a locking nut(obviously). The VBT700 has a Gibraltar Custom fixed bridge, a normal nut, and no string tree.

My question is: would a string tree make the low strings on the VBT700 feel tighter like they do on the other guitar or do I just need heavier strings on the bottom?
