String Vibration Problem

This problem applies to both my RGT220A with the Edge-Pro and my RG3120 with the Lo-Pro. The problem is similar to the one as in this post http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69938 in the second paragraph.

When I am going from lower pitch string to an upper pitch string the lower resonates/vibrates enough to be picked up through the pick-ups. At first I thought it might be my thumb dragging across the lower pitch string so I changed my pick holding to avoid this. The problem persists.

I did a search of the Tech Forum because I remember having read a post awhile back with a member having the same issue and that is where I found that post. Alas there is no help there.

To test it I mute the D, G, B and E strings with my fingers and pluck the A with normal pressure with the tuner in my GT-6 fired up. When I mute the A string the tuner which read A for the string I hit it changes to E. With the tuner still reading E I touch the E string and no more E on the Tuner.

This tells me a few things and please correct me if I am wrong. I think the vibrations from the A string are vibrating the E and the same for whatever string I am plucking to the string above it.

I have tried many fixes from my search on the forums. I have stuffed the trem cavity with materials to kill any vibration there. I have raised my action. I have unlocked the nuts and switched them around. Stuffed Q-tips under the strings before and after the string-retaining bar.

I am at a loss here. I cannot figure out what the problem is if there is any or is this just one of those things.

Thoughts or suggestions anyone?

Re: String Vibration Problem

try stuffing some foam earplugs in between the trem springs. You may be hearing the springs vibrate.

That is not it. It is one string vibrating another. Been down that road and tried that but thanks anyway.

Re: String Vibration Problem

.......... most guitars do this.................. you should be muting with both your left and right hand when playing the licks that make this noticeable.. its simply your technique.
