It isn't difficult, just put the string through the tuner first, then insert it into the bridge. The advantage from what I have gathered (I don't do it) is that if you cut it so there isn't much slack, it will only take a few turns of the machine to get to pitch. Like a locking tuner. For me, I like to put nearly the whole string on the peg so if one pops out of the bridge I just unlock the nut & unwind some string. Fewer string changes.
