on the bonus disc of live at the astoria did they say that he had 7 gauge stings? and if they did where can i get some?

Actually, it didn't say that Steve Vai used them. Thomas Nordegg is into these cool and strange things, and he just had them then. I think they have to be custom made, and if you really want you could contact the companies for it.

thanks, i figured steve wasnt using them because i know he uses ernie ball strings

I really like them. I've just started using them and they're great. Steve Vai uses 9s when he starts the tours, and then moves on to 10's because he likes it that way, when its not too easy for him, and his fingers get caught up in them because they get stronger while touring.

If you still want those strings you can contact any of the companies that make strings, but thats the only way I know.
