strings


hey , my strings seem to be rusting real fast after i buy new ones :S i wash my hands 110% b4 i play guitar and wipe the strings after.. any suggestions on how to keep my strings from rusting too fast?

I've noticed that, too. I would love to know the answer to this as well.

I'll string a guitar, and then it seems like a few weeks later, they look rusty. I've only noticed this a handful of times. Some guitars I'll string up, and they'll stay nice and bright forever.

rusting or oxidizing.. You may have very acidic skin oils.. My friends like that.. He kills watches they just get funky..

Maybe try coated strings.

I've never really had these issues, but every once in a while, I'll notice the strings get rusty pretty quick. I'm not a very sweaty or acidic type of guy, either.

maybe try the stainless steel strings like the GHS stainless steel boomers???

WARNING: If you use stainless steel strings you will wear your frets out very quickly

that said... try some coated Elixer strings that should solve your problem.

Wipe them after playing with a rag with some lem oil or wd40 (if you dont mind the smell) on it.

Yes, wipe down your strings every time after you've finished playing, that will help.

Or change them more often...

try elixir , you won t be disappointed.
i don t have this problem but my fiend has it and switched to elixir.

Get a dehumidifier or the meter thingy, make sure your room isnt too humid.
