Suggestions on where to get jem body painted black

Hey everyone, I have a jem body thats been stripped and sanded down.
I looking for someone to paint it black and ad a clear coat for me. I've
been reading the reviews on the various vendors and most of them sound
like nightmares. I don't want to wait a year to get it back or spend a bunch
of money either. If anyone has any suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.

So you want someone who has years of experience, someone to take care of your expensive Jem body, and do it quickly because your job is the only one that he will have, and you want to pay next to nothing for it ?

Come on, be realistic. Painting a guitar properly is no easy task. It takes years of experience, and anyone who does this work, usually has a long wait time because of other customers like yourself.

If you dont want to try the vendors on jemsite, why not go to your local guitar shop, they will know someone who does this work, but I promise you will have to wait, and I promise it wont be cheap.... Its a specialised service your asking for, and it will always cost money if you want it done right and you want the quality to look like it came out of the Ibanez factory....

Good luck

Take it to an auto body shop and let them do it in a half an hour.

somebody put up a link for a body shop that had really good turn around time and had great quality products. It is weird because to my knowledge the shop has had no controversy over turn around and quality. For some reason they are not as famous as the infamous.

Yeah I am tung oil'ing a guitar because I'm not very experienced with painting. If Sims still paints then I'd prolly get him to paint it.

The stuff we've seen from Guitar Guru looks really nice and considering how complicated those paint jobs have been, I'm sure they could easily handle a simple one color job.

Besides, I have yet to see anyone post anything negative here about them so that speaks volumes about their service.

I wish I could remember the shop somebody linked to on this site. It looked really reputable with a great website and testimonials... but I have no clue....

I totally understand what your saying. I don't mean that I expect it to be cheap and retuned
to me in a week. I just don't want to spend 350 to 400, (which is a quote I got from a vendor on jemsite and then have it take a year like some people have experienced here.
I expect to pay a fair amount for it and to have to wait for it also.

Yeah your local auto paint shop probably could do it with a high quality clear coat for a low cost. In my home town, the local shop will also put ANY colour into a spray can if you want to do it yourself for about $15.
