super glue on finish


my friend super glued his strap locks on and it spilled over, i ran to get a paper towel but it dried after 1 wipe. is there any way to get the super glue off without ruining the finsh, ive tried rubbing alcohol and paint thinner. they dont really do anything. any suggestions?

That's why they make super glue remover. Test in an inconspicuous spot like the trem cavity to make sure it doesn't screw with the finish.

Also some very hard asian guitar finishes will stand up to the superglue remover initially. So it will all seem fine and the superglue will get soft while the finish stays hard. But before you're done, since you're saturating the area with it, it might begin to soften. To avoid this, I always scrape or sand as much of the superglue away while its dry, so the remover is just for that last layer. The superglue itself could react to the finish too, so that after you get it removed you find a little reaction under there that has to be wetsaned and buffed. All in all no big deal, just be glad you didn't get glued through the paper towel.
