Sustainer Light always on!?

I'm going through batteries like theres no tomorrow, my chipboard has a little red light on it, that always stays on!. I unplug my guitar and sometimes I will forget the sustainer is on when I put it away, but when I first got my sustainer installed I couldnt use the sustainer while the guitar was unplugged. Any suggestions?

I've repaired this problem before. The wiring has short. This causes a drain on the system.

Didn't you pay someone to install it? It sounds like they didn't install something properly, maybe you should take it back and get them to fix it.

Re: Sustainer Light always on!?

Try replacing the battery clip. If that doesn't work, have fun replacing the wiring.

If you want to send it to me, I can rewire it with all new wires and replace the clip for $65.00.

Again, why have you not gone back and got them to fix it up under warranty? If they haven't done it properly they are obligated to fix it for you.......

It is probally to late for him to take it back now. He has modded their work and they will say he messed with it which he has and will refuse to fix it. Sorry man for the trouble your having with it but the ****ty job they did and the money you paid someones ass would have been chewed a bit.

I was scared to take it back and have him route more and take everything apart he probably woulda ****ed it up even worse, I took off his **** pickguard and put the old one back on, Im looking around stores to find an ultra cheap single coil with a flat cover on it to shimmy neck to the sustainer, but first I need to route a little room for the sustainer to sit flush with the neck (because it is longer than a regular single coil). Once thats done I gotta figure out where that mysterious white wire goes.

The white heads on the board are adjustable. Use a small screwdriver and download the manual from Fernandes. If you take the battery and jiggle it, does the light go on or off?

Re: Sustainer Light always on!?

The white heads are called Trim Pots, The last time I messed with those I had to get a replacement chipboard. They do nothing for the battery, they adjust gain, balance. I can mess with the battery clip, but Im thinking its got something to do with the output jack, because when I first got the guitar back I had a really hard time plugging the cable in, now it goes in easier, I think the output jack thinks there is still a cable in there cause its to tight.
