sustainer position?

would it be possible to put a sc sustainer driver in the place of a middle pickup (liek in a hsh config.)

btw im working on building a custom jem-style guitar and I have no idea where do go.

Id like to do a lng setup but imo thats kinda butchering the "prestige" of the idea behind the lng (that being the limited edition) and even though it would be top quality with mostly all the same parts (small differences like I preffer edgepro to lopro) It just seems like it would be corny, like im trying to rip it off, Is that crazy or do you get it?

I also like the swirls but they are really expensive (worth it I know) but I think they are out of my pricerange (and nobody close by does them)

the 7vwh is my last pick but Im probably gonna go with it (problem is it just screams EVO)

I know you all hate ibanez copies but whats the problem if I want to get a quality built body and neck, and load it up with excelent parts, almost the same as stock, just in some cases different (like paf's instead of evo's) and never pass it off as a true ibanez

the only problem is that I can forsee is resale, it will have no resale value at all

Re: sustainer position?

im thinking it would work but not as effective as it can in the neck. and maybe not in the infinite sustain the higher the string. maybe it depends how much sting tension there is?? im making a sustainer topic, maybe that will help you out too

Re: sustainer position?

Won't work. It has to be in the neck position. Both Fernandez and Sustainiac say so. One reason is because of string tension, but I think there are a couple other reasons...

I believe the question is asked in both companies FAQ sections, and they go a bit more in depth.

True for any on board style sustainor. I've got guitars both equipped with the Sustainiac and the Floyd Rose Sustainor and due to tensions and placement of harmonic nodes on the strings themselves, it'll have to go in the neck position. It also has to be square with the neck itself. I had enquired once about having one put in a 27 fret guitar I have with a slanted fingerboard and that's a "no no" as well.
