Switching my tremolo system

I have an Ibanez prestige RG 1570. It has an edge pro tremolo system. The guitar plays great, and i switched out the pickups when i first got it for evos/evo 2 so it sound incredible. But two things bug me bout this guitar and both have to do with the trem system. The first one is the fact that it is ridiculously over sensitive to tuning. It's near impossible to get it in tune properly. When I use the tremolo it usually throws itself a bit out of tune. I know this kind of stuff happens with trem system but this one is just overly sensitive. I went out and bought a tremol-no and keep it locked down now which sucks because i prefer to play using the tremolo.

second problem is when i do use the tremolo, the arm is a tiny bit loose. This part is probably just me being picky, and although I really have no right to be that picky with the experience i have, i can't help it and this really bothers me. The tremolo arm is loose a bit nd its just not smooth. That's another reason I keep it locked. A friend of mine had a floyd rose on one of his guitars and when i messed with it I was just like... holy crap. It was so much smoother than mine, the arm was solid, and it kept its tune so well.

Well now after explaining all that... My solution is that both of those problems could be fixed if I just swap the edge pro with a floyd rose system. But is the routing similar enough that I could swap them? if i even posible how difficult would this be and how pricey would it be to have a tech do it?

First off, don't be an idiot and go so far as suggesting that you can replace an Edge Pro with an OFR because it simply won't happen.

Secondly, Here's what you can do with regard to the arm:

Lastly, you can visit Rich's setup page and dwelve into setting up that edge pro properly. Considering you'll be replacing the arm on the Edge Pro, you might as well sert that guitar properly.

Re: Switching my tremolo system

I'm not being an idiot suggesting I could switch to a floyd rose, I was asking if that was possible and if you had read what I asked instead of immidiately pmsing on me maybe you would have noticed.

My guitar is already set up.

Can someone tell me if there is any possible way to switch tremolo systems... This edge pro has just been a pain and I'm sick of messing with it.

Re: Switching my tremolo system

Instead of jumping down the throat of somebody trying to help maybe you should pay attention.

The FR arm system is a mod to get the collar tightening of the system, instead of the push in bar with bushings. I'd prefer the push in anyday, but that mod will solve your "bug". [EDIT] didn't you just post a thread asking about it?!

The link to setup, obviously it is not set up right because if it was it would not be returning a "bit out of tune". Solve what the problem is and there will cure your second "bug".

Re: Switching my tremolo system

At first I loved the push in... I thought it was jut better all around.. But it sacrificed stability and smoothness for being easier to take in and out.. and im just not cool with that.
It's been set up... its just not a FR i guess.

Considering your dad changed the strings for you, I'd bet against it being done to the point it needs to be stable. Why would I bet that? Because it's not stable.
