The NEW Edge/LoPro Posts! - Try them for yourself!

NOTE: *THIS IS NOT A MANDATORY MOD. *
Do it when you get the chance. *Your current posts are just fine.
Here's a pic of the "new and improved" posts for your Edge & LoPro trems:

Notice the arrow. *It points to that machined line. *That's how you can identify the new posts from the old ones.
Also notice that there aren't as many threads as the old-school posts (probably added for strength and/or looks).

I ran some tests before installing the two new guys on my RG-ART. *Smooth diving and perfect return. *Flutter was good, and I was happy with it. *
After I installed the new posts- almost TWICE the flutter, and just as smooth as before. * I'm going to put the trem through it's paces tonight and update as needed.

Next time your order parts from your local dealer, be sure to pick up a set of these. *
GOOD JOB, IBANEZ! *THANKS!

The machined line is only there so you can tell it's a New cut post. These are best used for correcting tuning stability, especially after sharpening a trems knife edges. Other than that I haven't noticed a difference in 'performance'. You can look at one under a microscope next to an old post and you'll swear there's no diference in the V, but obviously there is.

OK, ithe comparison doesn't stand up to microscopic comparrison

The bottom angle is slightly more open, probably frees up the knife a little more by less surface contact with the edge.

color me skeptical, but i'm not rushing out to change them on my axes nor throw out my stock of old posts. Never had problems that could be traced back to the old posts, but still if they're "improving" that is good for when i need more ....glen

If you have really old posts they're probably the same, at least the V anyway. Gotoh just corrected a problem with the tollerence and got them back to where they should have always been. The first 8 I got for a test were cut by Mr. Gotoh himself

rsvampire: hit a note.. hear it sing... in one smooth motion push the whammy bar down slightly and slide your hand off the bar letting it "flutter"... now that's flutter.

ibanez: okay...so in 10 years we have what... AANJ, edge's w/ piezo's, and new post's with an extra machined line. Now come on...where's this "innovation" that your slogan keeps talking about.

Hey Rich, those are the ones you've sent me, I noticed that line on mine too.
So on my old custom there are the oldschool posts (from 1987), on my VWH are now the new ones you've sent me along with the new trem, and I must say...YUM!!!!
It *does* flutter forever, much more than the original posts (199 which were one there. (which will go on the second custom along with the old trem from my vwh).
It feels absolutly diffrent, I noticed that right away when I installed them.
I suppose it also has something to do with you doin' some stuff on the knife edges.
I can reccomend this mod absolutly, you will feel the diffrence instantly.

Rich just recently... oh wait a sec- the Spice Girl's "Spice Up Your Life" just came up on my MP3 mix . . . must jam.

So as I was saying, Rich just recently put the new posts on my DBK, and I thought that it was just my imagination at first, but the flutter response has seriously increased!! Just wanted to back up those claims.
(and thanks again Rich!)

Forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question as I'm new to the world of jems and alike but are these posts being fitted to all edge fitted guitars coming out of Hoshino from now on?

I'm not sure. *I'll check into it though and post an update (no pun intended).
