the tremolo angle setup - need help (photos included)

Hi All,
Need help of seting the tremolo angle

I have tighten the screw almoost till the end - but it does not help.

You've either got 10's on there or your springs are getting weak.

strings are 9th though wish to change to 10th.

I have tried springs from my friend Ibanez = not helping ;(

and even if I tighten the screw till the end it is not solving the problem

so what should I do? may be I'm missing somthing here

The strings are either actually 10's [wouldn't be the first time 10's got labeled 9's], or, you are tuned too high.

well I've tuned normaly E
and they are really 9
may something wronh with factory bridge set-up? I'm the original owner

What Rich describes on his webpage has happened to me a few times. The strings feel really tight and the trem is jacked up too high. I loosen all the strings and start over. (It seems to defy physics!)

Everybody with a floating system has experienced this before. In a way it does seem to defy physics, springs have a physics all their own I think. Usually this is described as "I just changed my strings and I can't get my trem down!", much easier to spot the source of the problem that way

That happened to me on my first trem guitar, and i was about to jump out of my building, then I figured it out after about 2 hours of messing around with it. (and stripping the crap out of the claw screws)

I have yet to have this happen to me, and I’ve tuned/set up quite a few FR equipped guitars.

I just don’t understand the physics of it, when the string is at pitch it exerts so much force, no more no less no matter how you tune it, or am I wrong about that?

If a D’Addario .042 is tuned to E it exerts 14 pounds of pull, correct? How can tuning it all the way up to pitch before the others, then tuning the A to pitch, and so on, cause the bridge to pull up out of the body?

I don’t know if I’m just not understanding or what, but I’ve never had this happen, and yes I have tuned FR trems in this manner on occasion. Not so much with the deep routs on RGs and Jems, since if you have the strings all slack the bridge is so far in the body the strings are against the fretboard, making this impossible, but with other models/brands where the rout isn’t quite so deep.

I’ve even tried to make this happen, to try to figure out the physics involved and couldn’t do it . . . am I just dumb? :-)

it all depends on what springs you're using, how long they are and how hard they pull.

it happened to me many times. i usually slacken the strings and start over, and if this doesnt work, i'll set the springs in arrow configuration. it works.

I'm not saying I completely understand the physics behind it, I believe it has much to do with spring memory and how not to break that memory. I just always detune to pitch from a blocked position when changing string to totally avoid it ever happening
