Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi,

I own an awesome Ibanez Thermion head.

I need the user manual and schematic.

Does anyone know where I can get these items? I have checked the Ibanez site and searched the web, but was unable to find them anywhere.

Thanks,
Bill

You obviously didn't look very good, I found the manual in10 secs on the Ibanez website.

go to Support, then manual and then select your model number which in this case is the TN 120.

In PDF format 22mb,,, enjoy

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi IbanezFreak777,

I appreciate your reply; it helped me find the manual, but not on the USA site. These instructions won't work for the USA site, because the USA site is set up quite differently than the Australian site and the USA site does not appear to offer the Thermion manual.

But when I went to the Ibanez site and selected Australia as my country of entry instead of USA, I was able follow to find the manual for the Thermion easily, as per your instructions.

I had no idea that the Ibanez sites would vary so widely from country to country, but this is good to know.

Here is the link to the user manuals on the Australian site:
http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/countr...australia.html

Here's the link to the USA user manual site:
http://ibanez.com/support/manuals.aspx

Now all I need is the schematic!

Thanks, IbanezFreak777,
Bill

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi,

Besides posting this question here, I also emailed various Ibanez distributors around the world. I received a reply from Ibanez technical support at australismusic.com.au and here is what I learned:

1.The bias for the Thermion, regardless of whether 6550 or 6L6GC tubes are installed is the same:

35mA (according to them, this means the voltmeter will read 35mV)

2.The Ibanez Thermion TN120 schematic is available, but I could not attach it to this post.

3. And as I noted above, and per IbanezFreak777's help, the Thermion TN120 user manual can be found here:

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/countr...australia.html

Cheers,

Bill

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

The Thermion TN120 schematics are posted in the Documents section on this page:

Hope this helps.

Hi scotte_za,

I think the Thermion amps are really under rated. They do everything from Fender like cleans to thumping metal and everything in between.

It can run 6L6GC 's or 6550's. The 6L6GC are good but the 6550 tubes are even better. All I can suggest is that you read about them and try one out. They are really great amps...

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi Bill:

Which(brand) 6550 tubes did you find exceptional with this amp? Change in sound characteristics between the 6L6 and 6550's as related to the Thermion?

Thanks,
Victor

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi Victor,
I like the matched Tung Sol 6550 tubes best. Between the 6L6 and 6550's, I would say the 6550 have more bottom end, more sparkle and better break up but how a tube sounds is always subjective and may also rely, to some degree, on the pre-amp tubes in use.

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi Billy,

Thats great! Tung Sol is one of my favorite brands. I am currently using Tung-Sol 5881 on another amp and they are superb. Thanks for the input.

Take care,
Vitor

Re: Thermion - need user manual and schematic

Hi jp3,

I have posted the Thermion schematic in the Zinky Talk user forums at zinkytalk.com under a forum at the bottom entitled "Ibanez Thermion".

Its only about 225kb.

Billy
