thicker neck on a pre-aanj ibanez

My understanding is that the neck pocket fits the standard strat style heel neck. However, is there any issue with the thickness of the neck? I mean if I got a replacement neck that was say up to an inch thick at fret 1, would it matter since the original ibanez neck was 17 mm at fret 1? I mean, the heel would be about the same thickness right? there shouldn't be any intonation or tuning issues should there?

and before someone says 'why do want a thick neck on an ibanez', its because i like the bodies and especially the edge tremolos, but the necks are too thin for me

As long as the neck is well adjusted and the extra wood is on the back not the front then I can't see a major problem.

I don't know if they fit the strat pocket exactly though.

Should be fine. The heel should not pose a problem.
