Tightening trem arm with no bushings

Hi I'm having a problem with my bushing-less tremolo arm - I can't get it to stay tight! I've looked through the forums and searched on the internet but I can't seem to find help tightening a trem arm with no bushings (like mine).

*The tremolo arm has no bushings or thread; the whole thing is just solid.

If it helps, my guitar is an RG350 with an Edge 2. I bought it on the bay so I dunno wut the previous owner did to it. I had to order the arm from Ibanez and i gave it a proper setup myself when i got it.

THANKS in advanced, this is a bad problem cuz i use the whammy alot and i have upcoming shows!! It needs to be reliable, know what i mean?

Re: Tightening trem arm with no bushings

Wrap the arm with teflon tape or a piece of a guitar string package and jam it back in.

Or you can just tighten the set screws on the back side of the arm holder that are there to control arm tension.

Re: Tightening trem arm with no bushings

I tried, but i noticed there are 2 screws in the trem arm holder, i can tighten one of them, which i did but theres another one deeper in which i cannot reach.

Do i need a longer allen wrench?

You can dive all the way to adjust the top allen, pull up all the way to adjust the lower, from the trem cavity.

Re: Tightening trem arm with no bushings

Thanks Rich - that seems to make it easier, but i still cant reach the screw, the body is still in the way... Maybe i need a shorter allen wrench? I heard there is an Ibanez toolkit - does it have the right tools needed to adjust the arm? Cuz that would probly be good money spent...

You can buy short ones at Sears, or break, grind, make one.
