To Swirl with Easy Marble ! Possible ?

hi guys,

this thread is a question for all the swirl-artist on this forum.
did anyone try easy marble painting to swirl their guitar bodies ?
let's have a look at this link which is a demonstration :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_jfA-oKf7M

i would like to try those products quickly but is there any custom paints that you guys realised with it and do you have any picture of it.

it looks very easy so i don't know what to think about it ? and it's not so easy to find oil paint in "artist shops".

thanks for your answers.

manta.

Dude just try it on a piece of wood and see for yourself how it looks like.
It's no rocket science even with guitars cause if it went bad,do it again.

The jist of the topic may not be rocket science, but making it look good takes at least a bit of talent and practice. Sure almost anyone can dunk it in paint, but what it looks like on the surface of the water does not exactly translate to a contoured surface as easily as one might think, otherwise those ATD's and such couldn't demand the price they do. And let's not forget the fish eyes.

My first thoughts were that the paint was way too thin and colors are hideously washed out and faded. Also her technique is pretty lame as well, she would need to step it up a bit before doing any Jem I would own/buy.

I've had little to no trouble using artists oil paint. On plain water. You just have to thin each colour a different amount, depending on the order it's going into the water and it's own consistency.

Marbling has been an art for over 1000 years. You don't need fancy paint or any of that jazz. You don't need a thickened size ,although it will help if you want to do fancy designs but most people just want a "fantasy" pattern on their guitar so you wouldn't need the thickened size unless working with acrylic or airbrush paint.
