Trem Claw Screw Ripped Out

I was playing my RG350 today when I heard a click. All the strings went out of tune so I figured that maybe one (or more) of the strings slipped somewhere. I decided to change the strings because they were old anyway. I looked at the back of the guitar and saw the claw screw hanging out of the hole with wood shavings stuck to it.

So how do I get this fixed? Could a local tech use some kind of filler and regroove the hole? How much would that cost?

Thanks for any help

Yeah simple fix, file the hole with some dowel and glue, filler, etc and then re-drill. If you (or someone you know) have got at least some minor woodworking skills you could fix it yourself for a minimal. Cost. A tech would charge a lot more than what it would cost you to do it yourself, considering the work is minimal.

Stuff in a toothpick, easiest and cheapest solution. More sturdy if you add some super/wood glue in there.

No Luthier or Tech required unless you just enjoy throwing your money away.

Same answer as above - a simple toothpick or two with some wood glue and an exacto knife to clean it up should do the trick.

Re: Trem Claw Screw Ripped Out

It ripped out because it's not near deep enough. You have 8's on that?

Get longer screws.

Re: Trem Claw Screw Ripped Out

Exactly. Get longer screws or take off a spring.

Looks like I'll get longer screws. I'll see what I can do about the hole too. Thanks for your help.

Re: Trem Claw Screw Ripped Out

Wood glue and toothpicks to fix, and longer screw to prevent.
