Trem Post mod

Hey there!

I didn't find this info here.
Is there anyone that made a step-by-step guide on how to replace the new trem posts for the good-old locking trem posts?
I read the tutorial on Rich's www.ibanezrules.com, but it's still very blurry to me.

Anyone, please?

I installed the mod recently and it's perfect. If you can tell me which part of Rich's instructions are blurry, I'll try to help out

Re: Trem Post mod

If you get locking studs, you're halfway there. If you cut the paint around the inserts(so you don't chip the heck out of it) and pull the inserts(I use an old stud and a claw hammer with a piece of wood to protect the guitar face), then take standard roofing nails(large heads) and dremel the head off and grind the nub flat. Drop these in the holes and press the inserts back in. This has worked great on 2 guitars for me(had Edge Pro with non-locking studs).

Re: Trem Post mod

do these make that much of a difference? i'm getting a js1000 soon and installing a tremol-no (mainly for easy of tuning/string changes) so would the mods make a huge difference?

Re: Trem Post mod

Yes, I have seen a noticeable difference - but it's a combination of things that helps alleviate tuning stability issues. Read up more on Ibanez Rules.

I don't see how a tremol-no could substitute locking studs, so get the locking studs even if you don't add the tremol-no.
