Tremelo questions
I'm building a RG 320 FM (
Flame Maple
) that has a KILLER Top. I'm gonna put a prestige neck on it, and some dimarzio's. My question is what is the BEST tremelo I can put on this body without doing any kind of routung. So far I'm assuming it will be the edge III. Anybody had any experience with the Edge III? Are they any good? Is there anything better that would work? What kind of trem does a prestige have and will it fit? I have several Original
Edge trems
but they won't work. Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Tremelo questions
Dont touch the Edge 3, go with an Original
Floyd Rose
or an Edge Pro.

I'm not a huge fan of the orignal Floyds on an Ibanez, they kinda look goofy to me too. So the Edge Pro would be the best you think? No fitment problems? Whats wrong with the Edge III? I've never used one

Re: Tremelo questions
I have a Edge 3 and when it's probably set up and broken it, it is a very good trem for the money. Of course, I hear people saying that there are better trems out there and maybe there are. I know that the trems that "supposedly" retrofit into an Edge III route are the Original Edge or an OFR. I'm with you, though. The OFR is a very ugly looking bridge.

Re: Tremelo questions
The OFR isn't "very ugly"... The OFR is supposed to fit the earlier LoTRS type routes. I'm not sure it fits the Edge III route without help. The original Edge definitely does not fit any of those (but Patrick already knew that). I don't think the Edge Pro fits in that route either without modification. In other words ... you are stuck with the Edge III or some routing. (I'd do the routing ...)

The ORIGINAL Edge will not work, the tremelo cavity is too small, I've already tested fitted one.

Re: Tremelo questions
Floyds aint too bad IMO, just a little stiff, at least the one i have on my strat is, but it stays in tune and the sustain is great,i guess you need to try as many as you can, put em through some serious abuse and then decide.

Re: Tremelo questions
I think I may just reroute the trem cavity and use the Original edge. Does anyone know if the area it sits on (The ledge that has the posts) the same depth as the guitars that came originally with the edge? It looks like to me if I just lengthen the cavity it will be fine, but I just wanted to check with you guys to see if anybody else has done this and if there will be any problems that may arise that I don't know yet.
Thanks for all the input!

Re: Tremelo questions
While the original Edge will not fit, a LoPro might(because it does not have the long allen screws sticking out the back). If you do have the
Edge Pro III
(and not the 2002-earlier TRS), the new Edge Pro MIGHT drop in. The Edge Pro is a drop-in replacement for the Edge Pro II as I just did that upgrade myself.
