Tremolo

I have an RG1527 and I have noticed that the tremolo bar comes a bit loose.

What I mean is that even though I press it down firmly at the base, after a bit of use it 'lifts' a little from the contact hole so that I can press down on the tip without engaging the actual bridge.
it feels like it is loose in its socket. you can tap the tip of the bar and have it bend forward without affecting the bridge, like its swimming in the socket.
I tried tightening the back screw and I also tried putting saran wrap but that did not help. I also have held a lighter to the plastic washers, no good either.

why does this happen and do you have any suggestions?
thanks for your help

Re: Tremolo

I'm assuming that the 1527 is like the lo-pro edge on the 7620's as you had mentioned the plastic washers. What I like to do is take the washers off, put some nail polish on the slot where the washers fit, let it dry really well, then insert the washers again. This expands them and makes for a snug fit! I'm sure though since you've taken a lighter to your washers, you may need to order new ones first.....
My bar never really wiggled as you say yours does, but I'm sure the nail polish trick will help your situation out..

Re: Tremolo

take the arm holder assembly apart and check it hasn't snapped. I'm currently having my ZR's arm holder replaced and the symptoms are exactly this because you can't atualyl see with the bar in that it has snapped, you just feel the HUGE difference in play.

Re: Tremolo

Actually, now that I think about it, tape wouldn't work, its really only good for threaded bars like the TRS, sounds to me like the little spring inside the hole is messed up and isn't catching the divot in the arm, which is pushing the arm back up.

Re: Tremolo

thanks for the help guys.
I'm not sure that the lighter did much damage; the idea was to get the plastic to expand a little. It didn't leave burn marks though.

I'm going to try out the nail-polish today and if that doesn't work I'll check the divot.
