Tremolo Knife Edges

Are they meant to be replaced? I have one Edge tremolo that has a "loose" knife edge that falls out of the little side slot whenever I take the tremolo off the body to clean the fretboard, etc. Are they supposed to be this loose?

If not, should I try super gluing it into the slot?

Not that I've noticed, but I know it can't be good.

Well you could say the same about a lttle neck crack. Yeah the guitar might be playing all right, and then BAM, the neck splits in two. Something like that (albeit not as detrimental) could happen with this situation in a middle of a performance, and I want to know how to fix it. Obviously, it's not the way it was meant to be, as none of my other Edge equipped guitars have this problem.

Re: Tremolo Knife Edges

my 1998 RG-550DY has a loose knife edge too... on the high-e side of the bridge (the curved knife edge) i pulled it out and it DOES have the detent knocked in to it to help keep it in place from the factory... it doesn't affect my tuning stability so i dont mind... but it does bug me sometimes.. i guess i'll just buy a lo-pro to fix the proble :]

Re: Tremolo Knife Edges

well you are right... a simple "paint" crack could even split the neck pocket for example... but i dont really know how to fix it... on my next setup on any of my ibby guitars i'm checking that... to bad that i dont have internet at home right now (i overpaid, hahaha) coz if i read this yesterday i would it check it out when i was setting my new js1200 last night... hmmm i promise to have some news by the end of the weekend... sorry...
