Tremolo on OLP Petrucci

Hey!
I tried some of JP's new guitars and I chose an OLP, because it had the best sounding body wood (!!!).
Maybe it's because of the piezo-system of the original EBMM that required more holes in the body or it is a one-in-a-million OLP. I don't know.

The Pickups are awefull and I xchanged them with Breed neck and D-Sonic.

Now I face another problem. The bridge. The stud locks have 6,7 cm (from center to center) and I haven't found any replacement by now. I thought of Schaller or Gotoh or...?

Or how can I improve the tremolo?

Thanks,
Marko

Re: Tremolo on OLP Petrucci

Unfortunately for you, the Trem on the JP is a custom-made trem, and is only offered on that particular model. Depending on what problems you're facing, you may want to take it apart and see where the imperfections are, and fix them. the JP trem is an amazing unit, but it's only compatible with the JP guitar.

the OLP does not have Locking Tuners, though. That should be your first modification, as it also does not have a locking nut.

Re: Tremolo on OLP Petrucci

thanks!

my olp now has locking tuners.
I also routed the neck-pocket so that the neck is now "deeper" in the body.

But the tremolo unit makes me want to sell the guitar... I already fixed it with two pieces of mahagony but the function or malfunction is not the biggest problem.

The U-bar that surrounds the bridge is my problem. It is so high, that it causes problems when picking or palm-muting...

the neck is quite good. The frets are okay, but if you want them perfectly it'll need some work.

Re: Tremolo on OLP Petrucci

I'd love to try an OLP Petrucci... have heard though that the pickups are fairly "sterile" sounding but apart from that it seem s a good guitar.

What exactly is it that's wrong with the trem? I heard they weren't that bad.
