Tremolo problem

Hello, i just tuned my ibanez into D full. now the first problem was that the springs where turned @ an end. so i "stole" another spring from my other ibanez (witch is odd because that guitar was fine with 3 springs AND was in D to) so this is the first time i do this. is it Good the way i did it?

When i added another spring i could NOT turn the screw in, because now there was a spring instead of the hole that was meant for the screw. so THIS---->(pic)

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/2...cture42oz6.jpg

ONLY has One screw, is that ok?

further on....shouldn't there be more springs in the guitar-case when i bought this guitar? ow yea another thing The distance between the first and the 12th fret is pretty different. do i have to setup my neck as well ???THE GUITAR IS NECKTRU... never did this. is there always a big different between 1st and 12th fret?
I have to set up my strings petty high to prevent string buzzing on the frets? i have set up my edge pro perfect right, the way it should be.
I hope anyone can answer ALL my questions, thxs :-)

Re: Tremolo problem

A few questions...

1. Is the gauge of the strings the same as what came with the guitar? (i,e. .009-.042) If you have changed the string gauge that guitar might need a truss adjustment.

2. Extra springs don't come with the guitar. Since Ibanez uses 3 at the factory to setup the guitar, that's pretty much all you get.

3. You might want to consider removing the little spring retaining bar that attaches to the trem plate because it really isn't doing its job anymore. Anytime you have more than 3 springs in there, your best bet is to remove the bar altogether.

Re: Tremolo problem

Not a real problem missing the retainer screw(or the whole bar if you don't pull up a lot). Most new guitars do seem to come with extra spring or two but they get lost a lot(like the trem bars on half the Ibanez guitars on *bay). Instead of adding a spring, you could have screwed the claw farther in. "The distance between the first and the 12th fret is pretty different" ?? Not sure what this means. No offense is meant here but maybe you should have a pro do a setup for you. Not everyone has the skill to do a great setup

Re: Tremolo problem

The new strings are 012/054

I can't screw the screws any further, and what i mean by distance between 1st and 12 fret is that @ the 12th fret it's higher.

Re: Tremolo problem

whoah 012s! that's a big step up from 009s...no wonder you needed 4 springs to balance things out.

But I would recommend you put the springs on symmetrically not three on one side and one on the other, but 2+2.
