Tremolo stabilizer on a Jem ??? - Hipshot Tremsetter or the

Hi,

I discovered today those tremolo stabilizers (Hipshot Tremsetter or the WD tremolo stabilizer). Did anybody ever put one on a Jem ? Does it work ?

search for forum and archive for more discussion. It simply adds counterpressure thus stabilizing the tremolo. The hipshot replaces the middle spring. Since it all but destroys the subtle tremolo movements, stiffens the trem yet fails to eliminate the deficiencies of a floating tremolo, i suggest you pass on this, unless you have a very specific need... glen

I had one on an old Ibanez EX-350 and it did help that guitar because the trem was very poor. *However, I was better served by buying a new trem.

I read through the old and new forum.

Is seems like the Hipshot Tremsetter it too strong, so the flutter of the Lo Pro edge is bad. The Ibanez back stop seems better (Vai uses it so...) however it is discontinued. *What about the WD tremolo stabilizer ? Is it compatible with the Lo Pro Edge ?

My goal is to get the Lo Pro Edge stable enough so that I can switch from regular <-> drop-D tuning only with the fine-tuning screws.

since the hipshot is adjustable, i believe you could assist Drop-D tuning, as tedious as re-tuning will be still. I'd recommend however getting an alternate guitar, or blocking the bridge (entirely, or to prevent pullup) for best results with detuning. I'm not for tremolo compromises or tremsetters... glen

a link to the WD trem stabilizer is below. The question (aside from it's usefulness) is what body modification in the tremolo cavity is needed for installation.

Tremolo stabilizer on a Jem ???

Hi,

Hum.. I think I'll try this blocking strategy. Any link in the forum/website about this ? Indeed:
- I cannot consider the "alternate guitar"...all my guitars are in France, I just brought here my 90HAM.
- it IS a 90HAM, so I don't want to make any definitive mods to it, as it appears to be necessary for the WD trem stabilizer. I'm OK to play on it, but I don't want to scratch it more than it is already

The WD Stabilizer is not a permanent mod and can be easily removed. *I used to have one on my RG570 but removed it when I bought a guitar with a Hipshot D-tuner factory installed. *Now that I have removed it, my RG570 is back to its free-floating old self. *The original Edge on my 570 and the Lo Pro on your 90HAM do not differ for purposes of installing the Stabilizer, so you can go ahead and try it without worry.
