Tung Oil smell...

I love oiled necks, and id really like to try oiling a body at some point, but gawd that stuff stinks!!!

Eventually, it fades from a neck, but im afraid its gonna be forever before the funk leaves a whole body...

so, any good way to get rid of it?

Re: Tung Oil smell...

Are you using 100% Tung Oil, or something like Formby's or similar garbage? Real Tung Oil has a nice natural smell, you want to get the good stuff. The other stuff is thinned with petroleum products and stinks, not to mention is very unhealthy. Check the ingredients on what you are using to see what it is.

Re: Tung Oil smell...

Like Roger said - make sure it's 100% Tung and and not a brand such as Formby's (good old'e Homer What your smelling is the petro-products. (ass)

Edited because I can't properly get what's in my head all the way to the keyboard

Sorry, I apparently didn't word my original statement clearly, Formby's actually does have petroleum products in it and stinks, you want real 100% Tung Oil. I don't think Home Depot or Lowe's carry the good stuff.

Roger

JJEMMER, I got mine at McGuckins, what don't they carry;-) (As long as you are willing to pay a premium...)
