Re: Tuning issue

Did you just re-string the guitar?

Re: Tuning issue

What do you mean by releasing and is this your first floating trem guitar?

Re: Tuning issue

Go read this..... Rich has a pretty good tech section which will help you understand what may be happening as well as resolving the issue!

Re: Tuning issue

Did you stretch the string well? That may be the issue here as they may still be stretching out. That will surely have you re-tuning for awhile! Hope you get it resolved!

Re: Tuning issue

PSP your more than welcome..... can't stress enough about reading the entire tech area of Ibanez Rules. Rich is the Ibanez setup "guru" around these parts.

BTW, Did you change string gauge also?

Re: Tuning issue

I took my guitar into a tech today. he set it up with some hibrid strings...9-46 never tried those before.

I have a question for you guys...the tech had gone home for the day. The action seems to high for my liking. This is a fine line because i am used to playing a guitar with low action but being able to rest my hand on the bridge. When the bridge was much lower i found i had to alternate my playing style...just felt weird as i couldnt rest my hand so to speak on the bridge.

Now if I lower the bridge slightly to try to lower the action will this send everything else out of wack that i just paid for...ie) intonation etc...

I need to find that balance between a higher bridge and lower action

Thanks

Re: Tuning issue

Lowering action won't affect your intonation or setup, but if it's a fairly major action adjustment you'll most likely need to retune.

Re: Tuning issue

Thanks...so if I understand correctly its just a matter of tightening the two screws a bit...a little at a time ensuring i am tuned to pitch...seems simple enough. I thought it would impact the intonation or trem angle?

I just dont want to screw up a relatively great set up from the tech..just the action needs a small tweak.

This all may seem trivial to you but this is my 1st Ibanez in my 25 years playing and I want it to be perfect.

I always had my guitars set by a tech in vancouver BC canada but have now moved about 4 hours away...

Cheers

Re: Tuning issue

If you lower your action you'll notice the trem angle gets slightly lowered, but that's only because lower action means your bridge is sitting lower. Don't worry, it won't affect your set-up, especially if it's a minor action tweak like you said.

You should be plugged in to a clean channel while you're doing this though to check for buzz.
