Tuning stability problems

Hey. I've been having trouble with the tuning stability of my RG1550. It has the Edge Pro trem. The strings are stretched, locked properly and set up properly but it never stays in tune, even when not using the bar.

What can be done to fix this problem? any suggestions welcome

Hello Steve,

I'm not an expert by any mean but I'd suggest you check your trem angle. I had similar issue when I first got my Jem and adjusting the trem angle fixed my issues.

There's a setup guide on Jemsite that explains very well how to adjust it.

Re: Tuning stability problems

Hey Steve,

Click on the 'Ibanez Rules' link at the top of the page. It has a really good guide on how to set up your trem/guitar.

When I first got my RG w/EP, I took it to Gig Gear (your in Herftordshire?) to get them to set it up. When I got it back it wasn't stable, I stretched the strings and such but still no luck.

When I finally changed the strings, all was well. So I came to the conclusion that the trem might need to worn in.

But hey!

I'm no expert!

PS

Steve, if your free this Thursday, you should come to the Hertford Marquee cos my band is playing :]

Re: Tuning stability problems

1: Lube the contact point at the knife edges & posts with a Teflon-based grease.
2: Buy a Tremol-No.

Re: Tuning stability problems

i found a link with intonation and pitch return...so maybe check that its intonated correctly. also as mentioned above bridge angle plays a strong part.

ibanezrules.com tech setup should help heaps. Set my 570 up over n over to learn all the tricks involved. Now my guitar could get hit by a truck an it'll stay and return to pitch. hope it goes well.
