used s470 trem bar problem

hey guys i am planning on buying a used s470 but there are somethings i needed help with before i could come to a decision

1) the guy says he had got the wrong trem bar from ibanez and he said he uses tape around the screw to make it fit properly.

2) he also told me "iv got it quite high around the 5th, lower at 12 and then higher at around 19" when i asked about the action .i dont know a lot about action all i want is the strings are fairly close to the fretboard without any buzz and i ll b happy

so i wanted to ask you guys tat will i have to change the whammy bar reciever nut and and the whammy bar to?if so how much would that cost me ?

and about the action ,is the neck warped ?
or is it normal to have diff action at diff frets ( i never knew this )
and wil i be able to lower the action ?
i dont know a lot about guitars so please excuse me
any info will b helpful
thank you

Re: used s470 trem bar problem

This guy sounds a bit like a moron, I'd try and take advantage of that when negotiating a price. First off, it's entirely normal to have a bar that doesn't quite fit the socket, and tape is the standard fix for that. If you're really anal about it, for 20 bucks you can buy one that fits. His comment about the action is a little concerning because action doesn't just float around to different heights throughout the guitar. So either he has no idea what he's talking about, or he has somehow butchered that neck. If I were you, I wouldn't buy the guitar without personally seeing it, or seeing detailed pictures of the neck. Don't be afraid to pass on it, there are plentttty of s470's out there to go around.

Well I don't think the measurements are too big a deal. If you do buy this guitar, I'm assuming you plan to get it set up when you receive it, let your tech worry about string height. You're really just concerned with how the neck looks. If you get those pictures and they're kosher, grab it.
