UV Mods - Need some questions asnwered.

Hi Guys

Well what I plan on doing will probably be considered sacriligious to most UV fans...but here it goes anyways.

1- I would like to replace the mirrored pick guard with a plain black one, same width, same size.

2- Since I never use the center pick-up, I would like to remove it.

So here is my dilemma: where can I find a nice black pick-guard, that it will fit perfectly on my UV. Is it possible to find one that doesn't have a center single coil hole?

If so and I remove the single-coil, what happens then to my 5-way selector switch. Will I have to swap it for a 3 way? Or can I keep the 5-way without any problems?

Thanx

You can get the Pick Guard at Jeannie's as for the switch unless your planning on a custom wiring job it will have an off possition with no signal where the single coil use to be.....

it doesnt HAVE to be an off position -- wire it like a 7620

Shawn,

The RG7-620 uses a special switch - the connections that are made as you sweep through the five positions are not the same as those made with a standard 5-way.
... The result would be (from neck to bridge) Neck/Neck split (single)/Nothing/Bride split (single)/Bridge.

It would require either one of Ibanez's switches, or a 3rd party one like the Megaswitch or Dimarzio Multipole or Yamaha 4-pole switches to accomplish the RG7-type wiring.

The 7620 switch is not different. What is different is how it is wired. You should be able to convert the UV to 7620 type switching.

Where can we find wiring diagrams for this mod then? I like the 7620 option!

The wiring diagrams can be accessed from Ibanez.com.
