Re: Very cool fix for noisy trem springs

Nice idea, but I'm sure that'll affect the movement of the trem more than the cotton wool im using at the moment.

I've been raving about this for a few years now. Works great, has a good subtle effect on tone too.

Re: Very cool fix for noisy trem springs

While I am sure that works, you can just wrap a bit of tape around one end of the spring as well.

Thaaank you.

Electrical tape is unobtrusive. The gummy adhesive is not a threat to the many many pounds of pressure from the trem block to the trem claw.

Re: Very cool fix for noisy trem springs

He puts surgical tubing inside the spring. In the video he's actually still getting more ring when he's done than I get with the electrical tape. I have another idea that I've tried, and it works. It may be a future new product available for sale. I asked this before, but what if you could buy quality "noiseless" tremolo springs for say, $10-$15 for a pack of 5 or 6? Does that sound interesting?

Re: Very cool fix for noisy trem springs

When he bent the high E to get the high note, did he just cover the rest of the strings lower on the fretboard to keep them from ringing, or did he do something else? I remember someone telling me that there's a little trick to get a particular 'squeal' that's only possible on a Fender Strat...

wow that looks easy enough, I need to do something to my strat, the springs are very noisy. All my Ibby's are fine, just the strat.

Tape is where it's at. The rubber tubing idea looks good but I can't find any. Foam is crap.

Re: Very cool fix for noisy trem springs

I thought he used his right hand to hold down the E string (behind his left hand) knowing he was going to break it and didn't want it to get him.
