Warmoth Ibanez necks?
A Warmoth rep is soliciting opinions about making Jackson replacement necks and they mention in passing that they're going to be making Ibanez necks:
http://acapella.harmony-central.com/...0&pagenumber=2
(Scroll down a bit. The rep is "Stirt.")
I assume (hope!) that this means an AANJ heel. The old style block heel is the same as a standard Fender heel, right?

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
I'm the one that posted that over there.....
I post on HC as Megatron_69.
I hope they follow through. I think Bodies would be cool aswell....I know 570/550/470 whatever bodies are all over E-bay but it would be nice to order a custom bo with specific wood combinations.

But at the same time, it wouldnt be good for other peoples business. Like custom builders, that specialise in
custom Ibanez
style bodies. I am sure that Warmoth building them at any spec wouldnt do their business any favours!

I hope they do the
Ibanez necks
wif the AANJ & offer the bodies wif contour heels. Throw in those stainless-
steel frets
= yum yum

it seems the custom builders already have more work than they can handle.

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
I think this would be great. IIRC the custom builders are generally backlogged already, and not everyone wants a custom anyway - after all, the originals weren't (for the most part). Now if only they could get their act together on fretwork.

I assume you mean that warmoth has been putting out shoddy fretwork? Could you please elaborate for those of us who havent dealt with Warmoth?

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
I wish they could build Pacifica parts. Let me say that louder- I WISH THEY WOULD BUILD PACIFICA PARTS!
They won't do it, much to my suprise. I'd be a happy man, if I could put together my own 1221. They're great guitars, but non-existant in the used market. Well, except for the one that I found.
If they could get a license to build Strat heads from Fender, then how hard could it possibly be to get Yamaha's permission? They built the damn things for Yamaha to begin with!
It would be cool to be able to get a neck with the proper Ibanez
headstock shape
, too. Not that Jeremy's(for instance) design isn't great, but alot of people would love to be able to put together a proper looking Ibanez clone, out of woods, ect..., of their choice.

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
The guy said they have no plans to do bodies. Which is weird, if true, because they'd be selling necks that don't fit any body that they sell. (People have the same concern over the Jackson necks.)
I hope what he meant was that they have no plans to do RG body shapes, but will put an
AANJ neck
pocket on their existing bodies. For me, the perfect bolt on guitar would be a Soloist / Dinky body with an AANJ.

They don't do a level & crown after installing the frets, and the frets don't stay seated as well as they should. IMO the materials are good, but count on having a new neck touched up by a pro if you want it REALLY nice.
My Carvin necks CAME "really nice"

That would rock. I LOVE the Pacifica 921 neck profile. To get one of those with
ebony board
& steel frets - yummy!

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
Why are people so taken with
Stainless Steel frets
?
I know their gonna' last longer but they sound inferior to me, very 'harsh' and mettalic sounding.
I'd rather have frets that sound good and have a re-fret done when it's necessary personally.

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
Others have said that. Personally, I don't hear much difference. If there is one it's subtle, or at least overshadowed by the difference between necks (and the two I compared were both Carvins - maple one piece with graphite rods and ebony board - just a slight difference in profile, and the frets). BTW, many agree with my assessment as well, which goes to show you - ask 10 guitarists a question, and you'll get 11 different answers... ;-)

Re: Warmoth Ibanez necks?
I had a
Warmoth neck
I ordered for a strat. 16" radius, 6100's and Ibanez Wizard back neck profile. Got rid of it quick smart. Felt nothing like an
Ibanez neck
. Biggest POS I bought sight unseen.
