are them oxidated?
if so, you better replace'em with new ones. but if they're just dirty, you can use electrics cleaning spray (dont know the exact word). they work great, and they won't harm anything, go with confidence.

just a thing: DO NOT use cleaning spray on Gibsons! (but i think that's not your case, Max, huh?)

thanks man.

I think they're just a little dirty (noise when rolling down or up).

How do you apply it? spray from the front of the guitar with knobs removed or from the rear cavity?

sorry for the dumb question, I really don't wanna learn by screwing things!

i usually proceed that way:
if you carefully watch beneath the shaft, right where wires are soldered, you'll see kind of a slot, a fissure right there.
now stick the spray straw (sp?) right into that slot and spray abundantly while you turn the pot, like you're cranking or turning down the volume.
do that until you feel the pot getting 'softer'.
dont be afraid to get all things wet, that's just a very light detergent, it wouldn't harm anything and it will dry out in minutes.
spray abundantly with confidence.

and repeat: DO NOT this on Gibsons!
