custom guitar
and how much would the total cost be? the parts can be from anywhere and the builders too, but how can it be cheap?
and i dont mean any extravagant graphics or inlays, just a very solid guitar made of the best materials? all info is appreciated.

Luthiers in your area - assuming that they are looking to earn money, not rape you for it.

There is a guy here named Honest Ron who builds anything you can dream, he does do great work, but he also takes pride in his work and he adjusts his prices accordingly. *Talk to Little Green Man, he probably has few "connections" in that field

Going custom isn't the most affordable way to go, no matter what.
By the time you get a good quality neck and body, plus finishing, plus electronics, plus hardware, my ballpark guess is that you're probably looking at US$600 at the bare-bones bottom end. This depends greatly on who makes your body and neck, what kind and grade of woods you use, and whether you opt for new or used pickups and hardware.

I agree with Darren, it's gonna get expensive no matter what you do. *You would be much better off buying a used guitar that has all the hardware/body/neck you want and then have someone build you some add on parts. *Buying it all separately is just really expensive. *As an example, say you want a custom seven string with a lo pro trem. *Buying the trem alone is gonna run you $275 or so. *Or you can find a used RG7620 for around $450 or so, get the trem and all the other hardware, electronics,
control knobs
, pickups, neck...yada yada yada and start customizing from there. *Much more economical way to go.

What is the most inexpensive way to get a custom guitar
good point, dont like stock 7's which is why i hate them so much, but i would be curious to see how a good one would be, but its 50/50 either a 6 or 7 but id want:
a lo pro edge, emgs: H/S/H w/5 way switch, ebony or
maple fingerboard
, alder body, maple neck, reverse head stock,
strat style
body(with extra lower (horn) cutaway for easier acces to, 24 frets, natural finish (no paint anywhere except on the headstock)
would that be acheivable to get for under a grand? estimates would be great if you can
thanks guys, see you later

Check out
www.universaljems.com
Brian is a regular here on the site...surprised he hasn't posted here yet...at any rate, his site has prices for bodies and necks and the like....he markets parts too so that should get you going.

You can also make one yourself.
If you know how to handle some woodworkingtools and have alot of patience it isn't that hard as it looks.
Off course you still have to buy the hardware and some wood, but that's it !
If you want to know how to handle such a project, click on the following link:

i couldnt figure out what some of the hardware was for and what to get (like what are potentiometers, pots, and the other stuff on the hardware section?) but with:
maple neck/
ebony fretboard
7
alder 7 string body w/ AANJ
tone zone/blaze/air norton 7's (there were no emgs)
lo profilde
floyd rose
7(there was no ibanez lo pro edge 7)
hard shell case
and anything else i missed, it was well above $1250
still better than gettinga stock guitar probably?
if anyone knows how to configure what parts to get, please post
thanks

What is the most inexpensive way to get a custom guitar
Two ways to get the best deal on a custom guitar hands down.
1. Find a starving musician that has the custom you want and buy it off of him in his time of need for penny's on the dollar.
2. Make it yourself! It might not turn out as pretty as you want it to because most people rush projects and don't give finishes proper drying time but you will know your own guitar from the wood up and all parts in-between. Plus you will learn a valuble lesson here and there on setups as well as repair if it needs something done in order to get the look and feel you want.
I've been busy clear coating three guitars and trying to get a few others back out to the owners...Thats why I havent been in the forum for awhile, for now I just get to visit it at night again.
Captain Ron if you have any other questions I would be more than happy to answer either here or by e-mail or you can get my number off my website and call. I would be more than happy to talk you through doing it yourself if you want to go that route....

Another pseudo-custom option i hadn't thought of is the Carvin DC-727 or 747. Nice guitars... great price.
