what kind of neck set-up do you prefer?

do you like it dead straight....

bowed to the front (the neck is bowing to the bridge).....

or

bowed to the back (the neck is bowing to the back of the guitar)

just curious....

Straight

Front bow = high action in the upper registry
Back bow = fret buzz

Actually, 3 of my guitars got some pretty bad backbow this winter... the PGM's trussrod was completely loosened, and it still has some backbow... need to put 11's on it for a bit then switch to 10s again later

I likes 'em straight.

Absolutely without question, .5mm - .6mm of front bow

are you sure on that measurement Rich? that is .019", that's alot, I'm assuming that you are talking if you fret at the 1st and 24th fret and the space between the string and the fret closest to center? I thought you had said once before .005" to .006"?

Nope, I'm sure. Sometimes a little more depending on the neck, but no less

I agree with Rich. Just a touch of Front Bow. I do it that way because I like the way it sets up, also you dont get buzzing with climatic changes as you would with a straight neck

I prefer dead-straight, but to keep things cleaner at super-low action, I introduce a /smidge/ of front bow.

as even as possible at the first and 24th fret. It makes tapping and sweeping alot easier for me. I actually like my action a little higher than most, but really even all the way across, which Ive found when alot of people play my guitars, they comment on how nice the setup is. lol
