What technique do you use when your tuning your guitar with a floating trem. *I guess what Im asking is where do you put your fine
tuning pegs
at?
All the way down, in the middle or all the way up?
Thanx

most people will tell you to put 'em a couple turns in..I find that I NEVER need to flatten the strings, thus I just screw them all the way out. never failed.

I try and keep them in the middle. *If you have them to the extreme in/out that just seems like a recipe for disaster when you need to tune quick.

Put em all in the middle, except on some guitars where I know the string is going to go flat/sharp when I lock the nut. In that case I'll compensate for it by screwing it further up/down depending. Basically I want all of them to end up in the middle after the nut's been locked.

What technique do you use when...
This is taken from
Dan Erlewine
's book.
*There is an interview with
Jim Donahue
from Ibanez and he advises to screw the E,A,D,G to the middle position and the B,E all the way back. Then screw the (high) B,E stringns in a couple of turns so *you have a little room if you have to loosen them.
I do it myself and it works real good everytime.

What technique do you use when...
Middle. Check out the "Used Guitar Primer" section on Ibanez Rules too. It has some really useful hints on tuning and changing strings on floating systems.

What technique do you use when...
definitely middle. *just like jay said......if you had them all the way up or down, it would be bad news if you needed to adjust your tuning on stage or something

I just put them in the middle, and I rarely need to mess around with the fine tuners.
I just tune the guitar, then play the guitar for an hour or so, without the
locking nut
.
Then I just tune the guitar, and put on the locking nut.
