which dimarzio pup is similar to SD JB?

i want to stick with dimarzio with this one.. but i like the sounds of JB.. just wondering which is pups is close to jb.

I think DiMarzio Steve's Special is similar to the JB.

Why not just get the Duncan if its the one you want?

There is no equivilent to a JB.
The JB is it's own thing but the Duncan Distortion is the same wind as the JB only with a ceramic magnet and the Evo2 is a better version of that.

according to the dimarzio specs.. i think Super 2 is closer, it has high output too..

Not at all. The JB has tons of mids, but the Steve's Special is very scooped in the midrage in comparison. That's what gives it that clear sound, but sometimes it sounds as if it doesn't cut through.

As others have said though, why don't you just get the JB?

If I recall correctly though, the FRED should get you close. Satriani used to use JB pickups until his deal with Dimarzio, when I think they modeled the FRED after the JB (could be wrong on that one though).

I'd personally use a JB as well. You know it is what you like, so just go with it.
