Which pickguard fits on an RG470?

Is there a lot of difference between different pickguards? Can I for example fit an RG550 pickguard to RG470 body? Wouldn't want any more modding than drilling holes for the screws.

it depends, ibanez does alot of small changes, sometimes withing a few mm sometimes withing less


we had a jem with evo setup on it and wanted to put it into a rg350dx

we took off the pickguard with the loaded pickups since the jem neck broke, and we eanted to do a strait swap, didnt fit we would have to dremmel some spots out of the cavitys..but we already shielded it and rather order a new neck....instead we also just ordered the evo n,b,m pups and the pots and stuff to just wire into the 350 pickguard

Just tried the JEM pickguard on the RG body, though I know the volume hole's in a different place. Actually it'd fit quite well except for that one hole. Some cutting should be done right above the bridge, or sanding or something..

So, is a RG550 pickguard the same measures as the one in JEMs? That would be perfect and the volumehole would be in the right place.

Most pickguard makers will be glad to sell a custom pickguard so maybe you should just order one with no pot holes(insert joke here) and once it's on your body, you can mark and drill for a perfect fit. A non-clear guard would hide the extra holes. How about a black mirror?

Well, a black one's what I need. To get rid of that extra-hole between volume and tone. If an RG550 pickguard has the volume pot hole in the right place then that's for me. Just would like to be sure before goin and getting one.

Order it with no pot holes and drill them thru from the back

Pickguard arrived. An RG550 pickguard was a perfect match for the RG470 body. Now waiting for the pots and snow-white pickups.
