why they dont offer 24 frets on S???

if u r speaking about the ZR Trems are not avalibale in the other models

then why there are no 24 frets on s models

lets say u can make Four parts of S:

1- Zr Trems And 24 Frets
2- Zr Trems And 22 Frets
3- Edge Pro And 24 Frets
4- Edge Pro And 22 Frets

And The Other Models have the same four parts

I think they well Sell All The Models

Any way I Prefer The S

Always

Regards

Lets hope that any new S's won't have the fretboard sitting way above the body like the current ones.

Rock on!

Hmm, could you take a next off of an RG with AANJ and put it on a S body with a AANJ too?

Re: why they dont offer 24 frets on S???

If they do make a 24fret S, I would be cool if they changed the body style a little bit, and changed the name. Maybe it is just me, but 22 frets on the S is part of it's personality.

Why not? Not withstanding the differneces in neck width only other concern would be intonation which would be easy fix. but I could be wrong

problem is scale length. the s neck pocket is placed so that it is 25.5 inches with a 22 fret neck. trying to put a 24 fret rg neck on it would effectively ruin the scale length. the s body would need to be specifically built for a 24 fret neck. the other option would be to have a 2 fret extension (like how warmoth makes their 24 fret necks), but even then you have to consider neck pickup position.

i think an equally valid question would be why are there no 22 fret rgs? i would be more tempted to buy one of those instead of their 24 fret offerings.

Re: why they dont offer 24 frets on S???

despite how awesome it would be... Ibanez is not Jackson. They do not offer a custom shop to the public nor will they ever.

They don't offer 24 fret S series guitars for the same reason they don't offer 22 fret RG's and 24 fret Satriani guitars (or any regular Radius guitars for that matter) or any guitar in a 7 string version. They simply can't produce every guitar in every version with every wood type and keep up with customer demands or expect to sell all their guitars.

It's the same with every business, why can't I buy any car I want with a rear wheel drive or all wheel drive option? why am I stuck with a front wheel drive car unless I buy a wrx or a bmw?

Your best bet would be to buy a body from Warmoth and build your own S style guitar, or if you have an S, retro fit it with a 24 fret neck and either take out your neck pickup or route the pickup cavity every big to move it back. Either way you're gunna be either building it or doing some kind of custom work.

Re: why they dont offer 24 frets on S???

i agree with RSVampire. If you want something special that they don't make then have it made for you by someone else.

There'd be a fair bit of woodwork and refinishing involved in converting 22 frets to 24 but it can be done. you'd have to move the pickup route further back and fill in some of the original and think about how your upper fret access would suffer unless you altered the lower horn cutout depth but that could ruin the aesthetics or the guitar. I was going to do this with my sabre but eventually didn't bother.

The trouble with projects like this is they usually throw up more problems that you didn't bank on which spoil the usability of the guitar in some way.

I'd love to see 22 and 24 fret and 7 string options on all the guitars ibanez makes but it would cost them alot to make that happen and they won't nessaccarily sell more guitars and make any money off the investment.

That said, they are still brave enough to give us the 8 string, the ZR trem, the Roland GK edge pro and make many other financially risky moves when they could have just kept pumping out the RG and S with schaller floyd rose bridges and only finish differences for years and years. and still turned a profit thanks to clever endorsement deals and good promotion.

Re: why they dont offer 24 frets on S???

I always thought that the "S" with only 22 frets was to satisfy that crowd that likes the neck humbucker to be located closer to the nut than a 24 fret guitar allows. But what do I know.
